Fresh Off the Plane Productions is a boutique audio / music production company for artists, film directors and SMEs run by Jun Seok Kim, an experienced musician and engineer who has worked from MVLS and Soho Studios, both in London.
Jun Seok played his first notes on the piano when he was six years old. He received classical training until he was 12 and then switched to Jazz and Improv until he was 18.
He started playing keys in several bands: first a local Funk/Rock/Fusion band but quickly moving on to play for Dutch Hip-Hop artist Pete Philly and later on TrackAddicts, formed by bass player Zwazi, formerly of the highly successful Postmen and Rockattack Ten, veteran of the Dutch Hip-Hop scene and a member of the P-Funk Allstars.
While recording the second TrackAddicts album ‘RockStarFunk’, Jun Seok earned his first production credits for the song ‘If I would be…’. It was this track that was chosen by MTV Europe to promote the 2005 VMAs in Miami in association with Converse. This made him one of the first producers of Korean descent in Europe to make inroads.
In 2007 Jun Seok landed a management deal with CMG/WeFunk Records and the following year worked with George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic.
After producing and engineering for a number of U.S. and Dutch artists he moved to the UK to top up his experience with an MA in Audio Production at the University of Westminster. He got together with U4iA Music and went to work on a number of high-profile projects, including Rhyan Holder, Storm, Louie Rei and Gerald Jacobs.
In 2016 Jun Seok decided to take matters into his own hands again. After becoming a dad, he realized things needed to change. He became involved in the building of OnDaBeat Studios and became a freelance engineer / producer / consultant there. Subsequently he re-styled his business into Fresh Off the Plane Productions: a fast-moving, mobile production set-up combined with a skilled producer/engineer, ready to travel anywhere and to set up and work in a matter of minutes.
